Opening remarks by Sebastian Reggentin (press spokesperson for CSD Frankfurt e.V.)
Off to new shores...
“Nothing ventured, nothing gained,” “You make your own luck,” or simply: Try something new!
That's exactly what we thought this year when we decided to move to the banks of the Main River, even though the decision wasn't easy and there are many good reasons for and against the move.
However, the decision was carefully considered this year and has one wonderful and unbeatable argument in its favor:
The CSD in Frankfurt is growing! This is one of the few pieces of good news that we at CSD Frankfurt e.V. can counter the many, sometimes very frightening and angering news stories from around the world. In recent years, we have received increasing support from all of you, which we see as an indication of the direction we are taking and the work we are doing. We want to continue on this path, with more space, more greenery, and more ideas that we can now realize. You can find more details here in this small and informative program booklet, which we have put together with a lot of love.
In a world where our community, especially the trans* community and those who are multiply discriminated against and therefore particularly affected within our large and colorful scene, are intimidated, silenced, and pushed to the margins of society by hateful and discriminatory laws, comments, and crimes, silenced and pushed to the margins of society, it is our particular concern and duty to create as large and, above all, as appropriate a safe space as possible where everyone can and is allowed to feel comfortable.
We are growing, and we will not allow ourselves to be pushed out of the heart of Europe, and we certainly will not flee. We are now located not far from the Eiserner Steg, where the locks attached by loving people are an unmistakable and eternal example of the fact that love is the strongest force.
The Paulskirche, where the history of German democracy began, is also in the immediate vicinity. We couldn't be more central, and we believe that there is hardly a better place in Frankfurt to come together for what we all stand for at our core: democracy, human rights, and love!
No matter which side of the fence we come from or where we stand.
The entire CSD Frankfurt e.V., its organizing team, the artists on stage, the hosts, and everyone else involved are looking forward to seeing you!
Happy Pride
